Geo Tagging is embedding the longitude and latitude of the location a picture was taken into the EXIF data of that image file.
This is usefull if you want to show on a map where all the pictures were taken. iPhoto and Picassa and Flickr allow this.
How to get the data into the file. Some cameras have a GPS built into them, the iPhone does and some of the newest DSLR cameras do.
If you don't have that ability, then you can use a portable GPS unit that will save time stamps into it at a set requesncy. Then when you get back home you can use the built in time stamp that your camera adds to the EXIF image and merge the saved GPS data. To do this you use software to do this. Just Google it. |

I love using Picassa to show me where all the places that I have been taking pictures. Then I click on the push pin on the map and go to those pictures, it is really cool! |
