1. See the light, where is is coming from, what is its intensity, where are the shadows.

2. Create Depth & Dimensions. Focus 1/3 into your subject using the focus lock and get objects in the foreground and background.

3. Take a Hike. Walk around your location. Find different angles.

4. Always look Up, Down and Back. Look around you for interesting things you might have missed by going in just one direction.

5. Tell the whole story. Take portrait, landscape, closeups & wide angle shots to make the story complete.

6. Frame it. Look for windows or doorways or branches that can surround, outline or frame your subject.

7. Be Aware Of The Background. See what is directly behind your subject, like a telephone poll seemingly sticking out of your model's head.

8. Fill The Frame. Don't waste space in your picture with unneeded objects that don't help the subject.

9. RAW Rules. Soot in RAW mode instead of JPG as JPG files loose some data every time they get saved.

10. Envision the End Result. What do you want the image to really look like when you are finished with it. 50% done at the site & 50% done in the digital darkroom. Make a scene look warm as if it was taken in the morning or cool as if it were taken at night or remove an unsightly object.
