Anyone know how to change the machine position display from mm to inches on a funuc 6m?
On the position display screen, (Relative), (Absolute), and (Distance To Go) are displayed in inches.
The (Machine) postion is in milimeters.
Would like everything reading in inches.
I've looked through all the manuals and cannot find any parameters or settings for this. _________________ I'd rather be making chairs. |

The Fanuc 6M uses a G-code to switch from inch to metric and back again. Also, there is a bit on the "Setting" screen for Inch/metric, which does the same thing as the G-code.
The "Machine" display is not going to change. Every machine will have either inch or metric ballscrews. If you have inch ballscrews, the machine display will be in inch. You must have metric ballscrews because your machine display is in metric.
The "Absolute", the "Relative", and the "Distance to go" displays will change based on the status of the inch/metric G-code (G20 or G21). If you put the control into MDI mode, key in a "G21", then press INPUT, then START, the displays should shift. Do the same with a "G20" should put it back into inch.
The Inch/Metric Setting bit is changed by pressing the "Setting" button, selecting "Input unit", and changing it from "0" to "1" or "1" to "0". To do this, you must be in MDI mode, and you must press the letter "P" key before pressing "1" or "0", then INPUT.
The 6Ms position display always agrees with the "Input unit" setting. If your Input unit is set to metric, then you program must be written in metric and all MDI motion inputs must also be in metric. |
