|
|
We've got a Kia st-15lms(2003 I believe) lathe with an 0m control and a chip conveyor that plugs into the machine. We cant control the conveyor with m codes(like I had expected to be able to do)and the conveyor can only be shut-off by its own power button.there is also no speed control, so I'm losing alot of coolant into the chips.Isnt there a way ,a parameter or a system variable perhaps to turn the conveyor on/off via the program?
Looked in the manual- no luck so far |

What I did to one lathe was this:
Spliced a relay into the the power lead that fed the chip conveyor, then spliced into the power lead that fed the coolant pump.
Then wired it all up together so that the chip conveyor only ran when the coolant was on, we could only do this because all the pump conveyor wiring was external to the machines cabinet.
Of course I bet you could figure a way of reversing my operation so that the conveyor only runs when the coolant is off.
Also I rigged a small tank under the end of the conveyer so that the chips would drain coolant back into the machine, but had to empty a smaller catcher a bit more often. _________________ Thanks.

The best thing to do is wire in a variable speed controller so you can slow down the speed of it. We do it all the time to new machines we sell. Try Turbo or any electronics store. You can also splice into a output if you know how to do it. _________________ --------------------------
