I am looking for information on how I can learn to better my finishes on cnc jobs. currently I am struggling with different materials on our haas sl-10 cnc lathe.
I do machining with 1117,1215,303, and alum. _________________ --------------------------

Tooling application engineers can be a source of direction and they might supply you with some samples to try. Coated grades are NOT always the answer but experimentation can find a solution. For some reason, a grade that the engineer
said worked excellent in another facility, might give worse results than what you are seeing now. And with low carbon, stainless, and non-ferrous materials, several different grades and chip forming geometries may be neccessary.
You might also check to see that the tool tip is a thousanth or two above center. Below center can give poor finishes no matter what insert you use. |
