Our CNC at die shop pecks all our carbide tooling. Recently a newly hired operator stated that on all material that are not gummy, to run carbide drill with no pecking.

Assumming well balanced holder, all conditions are correct is this correct in your experience.

What are your experiences?

I suggest not pecking.

If you have plenty of coolant on your drill you do not want to peck.

Pecking will increase cycle time and wear on your drill.

The new operator is right on this one.
