I need to drill an 8" hole into the end of a 30"-32" baseball bat handle. The I.D. isn't small enough to just drill the end out. I'm just not sure what the right method is. I've tried a drill press, but the bit wanders too much, and I don't have a long, or hollow spindle lathe.
Thanks ahead for any help provided.

If you know someone who has a Lathe with at least 60 inch length and has a steady rest, it can be done very easily.
Just make a collar to go over the bat, then chuck up the bat , put the collar on securely, with the collar at the steady rest, dial both sides in and you are ready to drill. |
