I am looking for a better way to handle programs for a machine that has a large number of parts numbers ran through it.

All the parts are similiar, save a few variations, slot LxWxD, location, drill tap, ect.

If anyone has a similiar setup with a good working system let me know.

If your machine has "User Macro" capability, this kind of program is fun to write. Using a basic program add variables in the appropriate places and maybe throw in a few IF...THEN's if necessary. Then you can make moccasins, shoes or boots as reqiured.

One of the frist macros that I wrote was for a slot. It always started on the left and work to the right. But sometimes engineering gave a center of slot locaction or a right end location and somtimes it had to be on an angle and sometimes it had to be circular. So now I just plug in the proper variables and and VIOLA. Hole locations are really easy to incorporate and tap speeds and feeds can be calulated from the pitch.

This is a perfect time for parametric programming.

There is a post on this, just do a search on it.

Also, Predator DNC can take a "base" g-code and get the data, then when it downloads it to the machine it will search and replace the correct values for the specific part you need.
